Singapore

CQUniversity Singapore is proud to have hosted a Meet the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor Networking session on the 17th of July 2009 at Suntec City Convention Centre. Professor John Rickard Vice-Chancellor as well as Chancellor Mr. Rennie Fritschy of CQUniversity Australia was greeted by an attendance of more than 50 people, some of which were proud members of the CQUniversity Alumni. Other attendees include potential students and existing students who wish to meet face to face with the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor on such a rare event.

The title of Melior Business School as CQUniversity’s only international study centre has been further recognized by the masses with this event as the high ratings of CQUniversity by The Good Universities Guide and many future plans and been discussed in detail. Students also took this opportunity to enquire on the available programs CQUniversity has to offer.

This sojourn by the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor has proven to be a fulfilling and potent visit. 2 days before the event, both the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor visited ITE College East, Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic to understand the study culture and education system in Singapore; thereby establishing a superb pathway for these students to further their studies.

The Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor also paid visits to industrial sectors looking at these professional working areas to see how CQUniversity’s graduates can apply their knowledge in their careers. At Biopolis, they learnt about the growing and improving industry of Biomedical Science and how it contributes to Singapore’s economy. Being the fastest growing manufacturing segment over the previous years, Biomedical Science students of CQUniversity will definitely continue to expand their scope of practice in Singapore.

At the Centre for Management Development where it is a learning centre for upgrading and training services to MINDEF and corporate organizations, the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor picked up vital information on constant upgrading wants and needs of working personnel. From a basic bachelor degree and some years of working experience, a working personnel would be looking at pursuing a Master degree to aid him in his career. And CQUniversity will be able to just provide that step.

Professor John Rickard was formerly the Vice-Chancellor for Southern Cross University and then the Vice-Chancellor for CQUniversity. This visit to Singapore not only marks the beautiful working relationship between Melior Business School and CQUniversity Australia but also marks the retirement of Professor Rickard.

On the 17th of July, Melior’s Board of Directors, Senior Management and staff were all gathered for a farewell lunch for Professor Rickard at Melior Busines School campus. Even though all of Melior will miss his guidance and support, we wish him all the best in his endeavours.
